Spot On! Antonyms (Tier II)
Master high-level vocabulary with instant-feedback technology!
Elevate your students’ word knowledge with Spot On! Antonyms (Tier II). This interactive set moves beyond basic opposites to target sophisticated, “Tier II” vocabulary—the high-frequency words that are essential for academic success across all subjects. By turning vocabulary drills into a self-correcting game, students build the linguistic precision needed for advanced reading and writing.
Tier II mastery made simple and fun!
Using the Spot On! Pen (sold separately), students engage in a multisensory learning experience. Whether they are working on grade-level curriculum or catching up on essential vocabulary, the immediate green light and encouraging sounds provide the validation they need to keep exploring complex word relationships.
Covers a wide range of vocabulary targets:
-
100 Tier II Words: Carefully selected academic words that appear frequently in textbooks and literature.
-
Leveled for Growth: Each box is organized into two distinct levels to support a wide range of students:
-
Level 1: 50 activities for grades 2nd–3rd.
-
Level 2: 50 activities for grades 4th–6th.
-
-
Dual Feedback Modes: Choose between “lights only” for quiet classroom work or “lights and sounds” for high-engagement reinforcement.
Targets key academic goals:
-
Vocabulary Precision: Understanding that choosing the right antonym (e.g., furious vs. calm instead of just mad vs. happy) improves writing quality.
-
Contextual Comprehension: Recognizing how word meanings change and contrast within a sentence.
-
Independent Practice: The self-correcting pen allows for successful “work-station” or center-based learning with minimal teacher supervision.
-
Reading Readiness: Strengthening the mental “thesaurus” required to comprehend complex grade-level texts.
How to Use:
-
The Set-Up: Select the grade-appropriate side of the card (Grades 2-3 or Grades 4-6).
-
The Analysis: Read the target Tier II word and look at the options provided. Ask the student, “Which word means the exact opposite of this academic word?”
-
The Spot On! Moment: Touch the Spot On! Pen (sold separately) to the dot.
-
Green Light: “Spot on!” You found the perfect antonym.
-
Red Light: Not quite—let’s think about the meaning of the target word again and find a better contrast.
-
-
The Extension: Once the antonym is found, challenge the student to use both the target word and its opposite in a single sentence to show they understand the contrast.

50 Double-Sided Cards (5″ x 4″)
100 Total Activities per box
