How to Use:

1. The Set-Up: Select the grade-appropriate side of the card (Grades 2-3 or Grades 4-6).

2. The Analysis: Read the target Tier II word and look at the options provided. Ask the student, “Which word means the exact opposite of this academic word?”

3. The Spot On! Moment: Touch the Spot On! Pen (sold separately) to the dot.

   • Green Light: “Spot on!” You found the perfect antonym.

   • Red Light: Not quite—let’s think about the meaning of the target word again and find a better contrast.

4. The Extension: Once the antonym is found, challenge the student to use both the target word and its opposite in a single sentence to show they understand the contrast.
