A Fun & Structured Tool for Building Conversational Confidence!

The Conversation Starters – Double Dice Add-On Deck is a dynamic way to help students develop essential conversational skills through structured, engaging prompts. Ideal for speech-language pathologists, educators, and counselors, this deck supports students in learning how to initiate conversations, maintain topics, contribute relevant information, and respond appropriately to others.

With 54 cards and 216 unique prompts, students get repeated, varied practice while building the confidence to interact more effectively in social and academic settings.

How It Works:

1. Set Up the Cards – Place nine cards face down on the table.

2. Roll the Dice – The student rolls the double dice, which lands on a specific shape.

3. Turn Over the Card – The student flips the card that matches the shape.

4. Read the Prompt – The student reads (or listens as the instructor reads) the conversation starter that corresponds to the number on the inner die.

5. Respond – The student answers the prompt, practicing conversational and social interaction skills.

Prompt Types on Each Card:

• “Tell me…” statements

• “If…, then…” scenarios

• “How…” prompts

• Open-ended WH-questions
