My Little House Language Screener & Play Set Bundle
Combine the power of play-based therapy with structured assessment. This comprehensive bundle pairs the My Little House Preschool Language Screener with the beloved My Little House Felt Set. By integrating clinical prompts directly into a hands-on, multi-sensory environment, you can capture a child’s true language potential in a setting where they feel most comfortable.
The Assessment Advantage
This non-standardized screener allows you to establish a functional baseline and track “micro-progress” that standardized tests might miss. The kit is divided into two portable flipbooks for ease of use:
-
Book #1: Basic Concepts: Targets 20 foundational concepts (e.g., in/out, on/under, big/little) both receptively and expressively. These are the building blocks for following directions and early academic success.
-
Book #2: Functional Language & Speech: Focuses on three critical subtests:
-
Describing Actions: Assessing the use of present progressive verbs and sentence structure.
-
Answering Questions: Testing “Wh-” question comprehension in a situational context.
-
Articulation: A quick check of speech sound production within the context of play-based vocabulary.
-
The My Little House Felt Set
The felt set isn’t just a toy; it’s a high-engagement clinical tool. The vibrant colors and tactile nature of the felt pieces encourage:
-
Joint Attention: Keeping the student focused on the task at hand.
-
Narrative Skills: Creating stories and sequences within the “house” environment.
-
Vocabulary Expansion: Naming household objects, family members, and daily routines.
What’s Included in the Bundle
-
The My Little House Felt Set: Durable, high-quality felt board and pieces for years of therapy use.
-
Two High-Quality Flipbooks: Portable and easy-to-clean visual prompts for the screening subtests.
-
10 Physical Record Forms: For immediate data collection during your sessions.
-
Digital Access: Includes a free downloadable, printable version of the screener form so you never run out of protocols.
Clinical Tip: Naturalistic Articulation Screening
Use the Articulation subtest in Book #2 while the child is actively moving the felt pieces. Instead of asking them to “Say ‘Sofa’,” wait until they are placing the sofa in the living room. This allows you to assess their speech production during connected speech and natural communication, which is often a more accurate representation of their daily speech clarity than single-word imitation.
